Congratulations to our very own, Executive Director, Nora Mendez, who was honored with the California Community College Distinguished Alumni Award. Nominated by Santa Ana College, Nora was selected out of a pool of 115 eligible community colleges throughout the state. “Nora is a shining example of paying it forward and making meaningful strides in community service and education,” said Dr. Linda Rose, president, SAC. “We are so proud of her many accomplishments and believe Nora embodies the true spirit of SAC and this prestigious award.”
OCCHC/SteppingUP hosted its 45th Anniversary Celebration at the Turnip Rose Promenade & Gardens welcoming guests to a fun filled evening with LIVE music by the Johnny Ramos Band! The celebration honored OCCHC Founding Executive Director, Allen Baldwin, in addition to our dear friend and supporter of of over 20 years, Rossina Gallegos! Guests were introduced to the Peralta family, sharing their success at OCCHC while receiving affordable housing and education that continues to assist them in stepping up for a brighter future. OCCHC/SteppingUP's College Awareness Program (CAP) started in 2006 with just 26 students and has grown to serving over 450 annually with 374 alumni to date. The program reached our 100th college graduate during our 15th year of service thanks to donors like you who continue to make a difference!
